Description
This ancient temple was made famous by the movie ‘ Lara Croft – Tomb Raider ‘ when it provided the mystical backdrop to this 2001 Hollywood hit starring Angelina Jolie. Ta Phrom was constructed in 1186 and served as Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university and is undoubtedly the most atmospheric ruin of Angkor. Unlike the other temples, Ta Phrom seems to have been swallowed by the jungle and the ancient buildings are overrun by gigantic roots of the trees. This image is a digital creation from a photograph that I shot on my visit last November.
