Description
Closely related to and resembling the painted storks of Asia are the Yellow-billed storks of Africa. This is one of the 8 species of storks that are present in Africa. They are often found in groups in wetlands on the edges of lakes and rivers with their bills in the water searching for food. Like most storks, both the sexes look similar. Their flight is a sort of gliding and soaring movement conserving energy and utilizing thermal air currents. Caught this one in flight over the edge of Manyara lake. This was one of a group of about 50 storks alongside some hippos. 1st July, 2015, Lake Manyara National Park. Tanzania

Excellent capture Pravine and such clarity! Your animals are so different than ours here in the Midwest that I really enjoy your pictures! f/v
