Hohenschwangau Castle or Schloss Hohenschwangau is the less popular sister of Neuschwanstein Castle which is located close by. The castle sits on a hill overlooking the village of the same name. This was the childhood residence of King Ludwig II of Bavaria and was opened in 1837. This photograph was taken from a hill in Fussen overlooking the castle.
